Reed Exhibitions, organisers of the 18-year logistics exhibition held in France yearly called SITL ("Semaine Internationale de Transport et Logistics"), will jointly launch SITL China with the China Communications and Transportation Association (CCTA) at the China International Exhibition Centre in Beijing from 18-20 June 2003. Josephine Lee, General Manager North China for Reed, said that China's logistics industry is expected to grow to about US$150 billion by the year 2010. "This reflects huge potential as China seeks overseas expertise to boost logistics development."

CCTA is the most prominent government-linked advisory association for the logistics industry in China. Its Chairman, Qian Yong Chang, who is also a past Minister of Communications, remarked, "CCTA strongly supports SITL China and will establish it to be the most influential international trade event in China's logistics industry."

SITL China will be held concurrently with the "China Logistics Week" During the week, officials of CCTA and industry experts will be invited to speak at a series of conferences that are aimed at addressing the latest concerns of the industry. The award presentation ceremonies for the "Most Outstanding Logistics Personnel" and "Most Outstanding Logistics Enterprises" will also be held to recognise the achievements within the industry.

"Result-oriented business meetings will constitute the essence of SITL China. We will tailor an array of executive meetings for exhibitors according to their individual needs." Josephine says. "For example, we will feature the Chinese Logistics Enterprise Business Conference which will be hosted by the China Federation of Industrial Economics and the China Shippers' Association, two of SITL's many supporting associations". The hosts will identify the key logistics-related needs of their members and invite exhibitors that can match those needs to attend the conference.

A "French Day" to be held on the second day of the event will see high profile meetings for top-notch French companies, government officials and leading Chinese corporations to exchange ideas and business contacts.

The support from logistics associations and the industry participants will make SITL China the most significant logistics exhibition in Asia. Hong Kong Logistics Association, Hong Kong CFS Association and over 10 other logistics associations in China are dedicated to support SITL China by encouraging their members to participate in this event. Similar support is also expected from Japan, France and Singapore.
